I found these on the 'net today, and they're probably just so right...
Karen! Just for you!
Questions Asked of Librarians
"Do you have a list of all the books written in the English language?"
"I'm looking for Robert James Waller's book, 'Waltzing through Grand Rapids.'" (Actual title wanted: "Slow Waltz in Cedar Bend.")
"Where is the reference desk?" This was asked of a person sitting at a desk who had, hanging above her head, a sign saying "REFERENCE DESK"!
"Can you tell me why so many famous Civil War battles were fought on National Park sites?"
"Do you have any books with photographs of dinosaurs?"
And so...my time in Israel finally draws to a close.
It's now scremble-to-get-everything-done week.
Yes, I have a list.
No, I have not begun packing. That's on next week's to-do list.
Currently, I'm set to leave on Wednesday, the 24th. I'm trying to get the ticket moved to a week later...but no openings on the flight out of Israel so far. I'm hoping for the best. And making sure I get everything done that I can this week.
I glanced over at KT's blog entry about moving. Far too true...I've moved house quite a bit myself, back in Australia...again recently here in Israel (although that was only moving room). It just plain sucks, most of the time.
It's leaving the comfortable, familiar area that gets to you the most, I think. At least, I'm having minor anxiety attacks about the whole idea. Alright, I never really truly liked living in Israel...but until not so long ago, I was comfortable here. And even now, with the dorm moved from the office, I still can do nutso things like staying up to impossibly late hours (or getting up at them) to roleplay with friends and things. I've been comfortable here...and even though back home has the promise for more (provided I can find an internet connection) it's still not easy moving away from that.
And as I'm unsure if I'll get around to posting again before I leave, I'll tack this warning on here:
At present, I don't know where I'll get online back at home. I know for a fact that my parents both a) don't have a 'net connection and b) aren't going to get one. I also know that my brother (2 hours across town from them) does have a connection. Can't stay with my brother, though, and I don't think I'll be able to afford my own connection for a bit, at least. So it'll be limited to netcafes...
