My Girl

Sarah is not the pleaser that Emma is, but she has a really good heart. She is also incredibly independent. Today, she was sitting on my lap, but then decided to get up. When she got up, she grabbed, pinched, and twisted a part of my skin that is particularly sensitive. I cried out "ouch". Next thing I know, she is in the kitchen. She drags the step stool that Emma uses to put dishes in the sink over toward the cabinet where we keep the bandaids. Once she realized she still couldn't reach the bandaids, she asked Braz for help. He got the bandaid down for her. She brought me the bandaid. She opened it up and gave it to me. As if this wasn't enough, she did something else. I have to tell you, what I've already described would have been enough, and I wouldn't have thought twice about it. I would have been grateful that somehow God has blessed me with 2 wonderful girls, despite my parenting. But this last, crucial step, well, it was enough to bring tears to my eyes.

Once the bandaid was placed properly on my hand (not where she pinched, but all "boo-boo's" go on the hand or the leg), she then gathered the trash together, and without being asked, she took it to the kitchen, and threw it away! This is something I still can't get Braz to do, and yet, here is my little, not quite 2-year old girl, throwing away trash that I haven't asked her to throw away, because where else do you put the trash? That's my girl! Happy (early) Birthday Sarah!
