Language Lessons

Yeah, I know it's been a while. Just hush up and read, will you?
So Sarah had a rough night, for currently unknown reasons. She slept very little. She is easily set off this morning. We have 2 main couches in our family room, "the big couch" and "the little couch". She is lying down on the big couch, stretched over more than 2/3 of the couch. Emma is sitting on the big couch, but is sitting in fetal position. Emma accidently breathed, or swayed, I don't really know what, and somehow got into what Sarah considers to be her space. Sarah started up, what I refer to as her "siren". (It's kind of a siren sounding whine. I asked Emma if she could move over to the little couch, since there is no way her sister is going to be happy with anything right now. Emma said something that I didn't think I heard right, so I asked her to repeat it.

She said, "I'm a-balled". Huh, well that's what I thought I heard. So, I asked her "Did you mean to say you're "apalled"? Of coarse, if you have kids, you probably know her answer. "Yeah, mom. What does that mean?" I LOVE this. She certainly used it right. She's just trying out a new word or phrase she's read or heard somewhere. So, I explained what it meant. Then she said, "Oh, I thought it meant that I was curled up in a ball". Got to LOVE kid-world!

OK, maybe I'll write again in another couple of years!
