Finding My Stride

OK, confession time. I have not been making good use of my time. I know, your shocked. The girls are with their dad for an extended period over Christmas Break this year, so I've been at home, with no one. I've spent that time going to parties (fun, but not necessarily productive), cleaning the kitchen, hallway, and laundry room (productive, but boring - and I NEED to remember to use gloves when I work with bleach - OUCH!), doing laundry (again, productive, but BORING), going to movies (fun, but not productive), putzing around on Facebook, watching TV, and reading. Sounds nice, I suppose, but I have realized that I need a hobby or something if I'm going to remain, well, sane (hey - no comments!).

I'd like to say that I dove right in, and found a hobby, something that I would enjoy doing when I don't have the girls here. Nope. I spent a lot of time on the couch, feeling sorry for myself. I might have quit smoking during this time, though - so that IS positive. (Can't commit to that statement yet, but so far, so good.)

Finally, this morning (New Year's Day), as I was trying to narrow down my New Year's resolutions, I remembered that I LOVE painting, updating, and decorating my home. Fortunately, I have lots of paint in the garage, so I went ahead, and got started painting the breakfast nook. I'm painting stripes - to give it that cafe feel. I'm really excited about it.

I am starting work soon, so I won't have much time like this week anymore, however, when I do have this time, I need to remember that I AM a home-body, but I love doing things for my home.
