Girlie girl

Well, yesterday was a very girlie day.

After much hemming, hawing, and getting our shit together, Liz, Matt and Rachel came down to get me for lunch, and we met Braz at the Don Pablos.

Have I mentioned that I have selective memory when it comes to Braz. I mean, I'm aware that he's like Matt, only worse. And that Matt is more Matt-like (and louder) when Braz is around. But just because I'm aware doesn't mean I'm ever really prepared.

At least my eye muscles get a good workout whenever Braz is around. Of course, as Liz says, if I roll my eyes much harder, I'm going to lose my contact lenses.

After lunch, we went over to Office Max to get some printer paper and a notebook. I want to print out the work that Liz and I've done so far and have it readily accessable for redrafts. (I think better with a pen in my mouth, for some reason, so I tend to do a lot of my draft work on paper). I was being sort of silly, and was zinging Matt and Braz to do "manly" things for me. Namely, carrying paper and reaching things that were up high on shelves.

"Braz, could you get me that binder?" I point. He takes a binder off a lower shelf and opens it for me.

"Look... one, two, three," he counts the rings inside the binder.

"Yes, I know, Braz, but I want the bigger one," I point again. The binder I'm looking at is a 4" and the one he opened was a 2".

"Oh, so when women say 'Size doesn't matter,' they're lying, right?" he gives me these huge "say it ain't so" eyes.

"Right. We like the big ones. Now, that one, please?" I laugh.

Braz and Matt were being super-weird (they excel at it. I know they get enough practice) and picking up everything they came across.

"KT, do you need Thumbtacks? There's 130 in this box, that's 28% more... " Matt would say. A few minutes later "KT, do you need a White-Out Pen? It's on Sale: Buy 2, get 1 free!" "KT, do you..." "How about a...." "Are you sure you don't want a..."

"Oh, shut up."

It was really too hot for the fifteen minute discussion we had in the parkinglot about what we were doing next and where we were going and with who. Which did not stop us from standing around in the parkinglot for fifteen minutes.

Eventually the group split along the gender line - Rachel, me and Liz headed to the mall to be girlie and Matt and Braz together to... whatever they decided to do. Which was, it turned out, following us for a while to see if we noticed. We didn't. They got bored with that idea as soon as we got to the Fashion Bug, which is probably good because I'd be majorly creeped out if they'd watched Liz and I pick out bras and underwear when we didn't know they were around.

Fashion Bug was having an underwear sale again, and, for a change, they had panties and bras that matched that I could wear. I swear, I think it's a conspiracy that someone decided that "fat" girls couldn't wear sexy clothes. Victoria Secrets doesn't stock anything over a 36D or so. Bras that fit and were comfortable came in three colors. Boring white, plain black, and ugly beige. Or, if they were pretty bras, no underwear matched. Or the bras had underwire in them - which is, just in case you were wondering, the modern equivelent to thumbscrews.

In any case, I got a lavender bra, a burgandy one, and a pale blue one, along with 7 pairs of underwear (2 lavender, 2 burgandy, and three blue) that matched and one pair (bright orange - don't ask me, I just liked the color. Maybe Missa is being a bad influence) that didn't. After that, we headed down to Claire's and we all got a few pairs of earings. I had gotten up at 5am again yesterday and rather absent-mindedly put two different earings in. I did not do this on purpose, but Liz, Matt and Rachel all assumed that I had, so they didn't say anything about it. I noticed at lunch. Sigh.

We went to Bath and Body works last, and I got 2 Citrus Basil shower gels, one bottle of Citrus Basil body spray, one bottle of Sun-ripened Raspberry body spray and two little tangerine hand-soaps.

We came back to my house and I finally got to show Braz the "Meet the Beat-alls" episode of Power Puff Girls. I thought Braz was going to burst a blood-vessel or something. Watching Braz turn purple in the face, clapping his hands over his mouth so he could hear the next joke was more fun than watching the episode.

We rounded out the evening by getting Subway subs (as a note, the horseradish sauce at Subway is so mild it may as well just be mayo and not try to have pretensions of horse-radishness) and watching Muppet Treasure Island because Rachel admitted on Friday to never having seen it. It seems to be one of those things we do... inflict movies on our friends. "You haven't seen <insert movie here>?? Well, we'll just have to show it to you!"

It was a good weekend, overall.
