Pair of Shoes

I've gotten pretty good at mostly sleeping through Kevin's alarm. He goes to work at 6am, and with a 45 minute drive there, he's usually out of bed around 4am. Unfortunately, he has a tendency to set the alarm for 3:30 and slap it for half an hour to forty-five minutes or so.

The first few months he was on this shift, I woke up with him, and had trouble getting back to sleep. Now, I generally "hear" his alarm go off and mostly ignore it. Sometimes I'll wake up enough to chat with him a little as he gets ready for his day, but most times, I don't.

This morning seemed much like any other. I heard Kevin's alarm go off and felt him get out of bed. A few minutes later, I heard the shower turn on. I rolled over and went back to sleep.

I woke up around eight with a bad stuffed head and the major sneezes. I fumbled around blindly in my bedside drawer and pulled out the *.allergymedicine and went to take a pill. No soda. OK. I get up and go into the kitchen to get a fresh soda. On the way, I vaguely, semi-consciously notice that there are two pairs of brown shoes sitting next to the couch.

Now, Kevin and I did go shoe shopping on Tuesday, and he did buy a new pair of shoes. But if there were two pairs of shoes in the living room, both his, what was he wearing? I pondered this for a while as I got a soda and went back into the bedroom to take my allergy pill. Eventually, this thought got me awake enough to look around the house.

Slightly unexpectedly, I found Kevin in the computer room, bundled up in his bathrobe, looking miserable.

Sick day.

People, this is a blog. Web log. An online diary. If reading the minutia of someone's personal life isn't what you're into, why are you reading a blog at all? She's not here to entertain you, and she's certainly not forcing you to read it. Sheesh. Pardon the girl for having a normal life on occasion.
