Hello out there, my wonderful bloggie readers...
Yeah, I know, I've been pretty quiet recently. Not much to talk about, really. I get up, I read my dailies, I write in my novel, I HALL obsessively, and when I'm not Halling, I'm talking about Halling, thinking about Halling, and writing obnoxious email to my GM about Halling.
Ahem...
Sorry, got carried away.
Anyways... reading my dailies. A bunch of the blogs I read have recently had babies (no, wait, correct that. The writers of the blog have had babies.) And another few are out of town, and one almost never writes anyway, her blog is this huge tabla rasa of white space.
So.... it takes me about 10 minutes to flip through my blogs and see "no new entry" "no new entry" "oh, look.... readreadread" "No new entry".
So, look over there to your left and see the list of blogs... If you're a reader and I don't read your blog, link it? If you know some good blogs and you don't see them here, link it.
Also, these are my list of daily comics... I could use some more:
Boring, everyday stupid newspaper comics that I read more out of habit then out of any actual amusement value
Wizard of Id
BC
Dilbert
Luann
Garfield
Much more interesting web comics that do, usually, make me laugh
Kevin and Kell
Something Positive
Queen of Wands - actually cancelled sob sob sob
Friendly Hostility
Two Lumps
As a note:
I used to read Sluggy Freelance and now I don't, so don't bother with that one. But any other web comics that I might enjoy, or that you enjoy, go ahead and give me the link and I'll check them out.
Thanks alot...
Well, let's see...
I read Preshrunk pretty faithfully, but I understand if a blog about t-shirts isn't your cup of tea.
Waiter Rant and Standing on the Box are interesting blogs by anonymous authors who are, respectively, head waiter at an Italian restaurant and tony nightclub in New York City.
More if/when I think of them.
Posted by: Matt on June 9, 2005 08:31 AMStanding on the Box is a blog about a BOUNCER at a tony nightclub. Not a blog written by an anonymous nightclub.
Off to get caffeine.
Posted by: Matt on June 9, 2005 08:32 AMKeenspot hosts a ginormous number of webcomics... they came out with a little (well, BIG) sampler of them-- about two pages apiece-- for Free Comic Book Day. I'd be happy to bring it down. :)
Posted by: Gris on June 9, 2005 10:14 AMWell, let's see... Greg probably bothers with a lot more comics than I do. These are the ones I bother to check up on:
I really like SomPos, but you knew that. It apparently has two attendant spinoffs - New Gold Dreams and Midnight Macabre - but you probably knew that as well.
I think Achewood is pretty good, with a lot of absurdist, if very regional Latin-Californian, humor value. It's not a furry comic in the sense that Kevin and Kell is a furry comic - while it involves talking animals, they don't identify as furry and are less anthropomorphic. In fact, the absurdity of these rather anatomically correct dogs, cats, and squirrels acting like wastrels in Orange County is a minor plot point.
LeisureTown might be a bit too angrily risque, but I like it. Again with the bendy animals living the slacker life in San Francisco - or maybe it's Seattle or Portland. Doesn't really matter. Kind of bitter and rather Pacific-Northwest. I think Kevin would enjoy it, really.
Death To The Extremist bills itself as minimalist comedy. This, of course, doesn't explain anything. D2tX is about two spheroids (1 and 2) and their possibly imaginary playmates making things far more trouble than they're worth.
Suspect Device will make you feel much more Louisianan than you ever thought you wanted to be.
Spamusement, a cartoon interpretation of junk-mail subject headings, comes in a single panel, once a day. It's like what would happen if ExplodingDog stopped trying to look like rejected Radiohead liner notes and bothered to be funny and even consistent.
Posted by: J.D. on June 10, 2005 02:13 AMThere are the various Modern Tales family comics -- they're subscription only, but there are free samples, including the latest page of each comic. T edits the Graphic Smash site affiliated with Modern Tales, a collection of action-themed comics of various sorts (so admittedly I'm a bit biased).
There's also College Roomies from Hell, a strip that starts off as a crudely drawn gag-a-day strip about college life and evolves into a more plot-oriented strip with a strong fantasy element. The art also improves dramatically.
There are others I'll have to look up the addresses for and post later.
