Meet The Baby
Penny
Ultrasound. Mostly painless (a little crampy, but for most of it I was so entranced by the monitor I didn't notice) minimally messy, and utterly fascinating. The baby's heartrate is something like twice mine - according to the nurse, perfectly healthy. And it was definitely alive. While we watched, it squirmed, wiggled and flipped until I was astonished that I couldn't feel anything, even if it is only a couple of inches long, yet. When it was turned so I could see it, I could see its heart fluttering rhythmically, and that took my breath away. I was between Matt and the monitor, so I wasn't looking at him for most of the procedure - but when I felt him take my hand, I nearly cried. Matt already posted one of the pictures, but it was commented that the purple lines I'd drawn were a little hard to follow, so I re-did it, along with a couple of new lines. And I'm including a second picture - most of the prints we got were pretty much the same angle, but we did get one shot right in the middle of a flip, where it looks like the kid maybe sat on a photocopier. Sort of. If you use your imagination. (Anyway, it's a shot of the baby's butt and legs.)

And then they said...
Only 11 weeks and already it's working the computer ("HI MOM AND DAD") and photocopying its butt... yeah, it's Matt's kid alright. ::grin:: Post a comment
