Penny

Another first for Matt and I as parents... No, this one isn't gross, like the previous one.

We've been putting Penny in her crib around 9 or 9:30 in the evening and then going right to bed ourselves. (Which is kind of misleading, since she tends to wake up again just as we're settling in and dozing off, so we don't really get to sleep until 10 or 10:30. Which is more than reasonable if you consider that one or both of us get up for feedings at least twice a night.)

But tonight... I'd back to bed after Matt got up this morning and slept until 11, so I'm actually not feeling sleep deprived. And Matt's dad had called while we were out earlier, and Matt wanted to call him back. And Penny took a bottle around 9 and went right to sleep.

So Matt took her upstairs and put her in the crib, and now we're sitting up chatting on IRC and messing with pictures and generally doing things that are much easier to do with both hands free, and listening to Penny occasionally grunt or squeak on the baby monitor.

In fact, she's been up there for a whole 20 minutes, and we've only gone up to check on her once.

It's a first.
