The Smirk
Penny
Next week, Penny starts daycare, and I go back to work. I wanted to take some recent pictures of her to take to work with me, 'cause, well, I just do, okay? She was sleeping fairly peacefully, so I laid her in the bassinet and grabbed the camera. And then... it happened. Since the very hour of her birth, Penny's had this smile that looks an awful lot like Matt's. We call it the Smirk, because it is. It loses a little something, translated to the two dimensions of a picture, but once she starts smiling socially (as opposed to smiling because of random facial twitches) I expect we won't see much of the Smirk until she's rather older. And while I'll appreciate her smiling for reasons, and I'll love the full-on baby grin that her random facial twitches have given me previews of - I'm glad I got to capture the Smirk in its infancy.
Yep, she's her daddy's girl, all right...

And then they said...
Oh God - I'm in love. Liz, if you ever decide that you don't want kids after all... I expect Matt might object, Jenn. After all, that's his smile we seem to have managed to reproduce in miniature... Post a comment
