Good News/Bad News
Computer Stuff
The good news is: I'm going to be buying a new computer in the Very Near Future! The bad news is: It's not because I've reached the diet milestone at which I'd promised myself a new computer. I'm going to be buying a new computer because mine is broken. Looks like the maid dropped it when she was cleaning up, and bent the AC plug or something... Whatever - the computer no longer recognizes when it's plugged in. I'm running on nothing but battery power right now. Now, I've got a spare battery, so I can run on one while the other is charging in Matt's computer, but I expect that switcheroo is going to get real old, real fast. And my laptop is 3 1/2 years old. It's no longer under warranty, and given the other little problems I've had with it in the last six months or so - memory glitches, a lack of hard drive space, AirPort connection issues, etc. - and the fact that I was planning on replacing it anyway in a few months (or however long it takes me to divest myself of this last 25 or so pounds until the next Big Diet Goal)... I'm just going to get the new computer. I'll call the maid service and see what kind of settlement they'll make, and if I have to take this down to the repair shop to get a repair estimate for their insurance records, fine. But I'm not going to bother getting it repaired. It's more than 3 1/2 years old. It's served long and well, but its useful life was already drawing swiftly to a close. So anyway... if I'm not online much in the evenings for the next few weeks, that's why. We do have the spare battery, so I'll be checking e-mail and I'll be able to log in for the Hall and stuff like that. And I post journal entries and hang out online during the day from work. I just won't be casually on the computer as much.

And then they said...
Okay, so what're you going to do with your old one, and what if I could fix it...? I hadn't really given it much thought, yet. Apple's site says they're not shipping my new iBook until next week, which means I may not get it until the week after, so there's some time to consider. If you had something in mind, drop me an email and let's discuss it. :-D Post a comment
